One wire goes to the red terminal and another wire goes to the black terminal. A twin pole switch can be wired to open both the "hot" and "common" wires at the same time.
The power supply will be disconnected from both sides of the load. A twin pole switches two separate circuits at the same time. It can also switch both V circuit legs. This saves wiring costs compared to a single pole switch which would need to be wired in parallel with it for safety.
